Using Time Machine enables a user to restore their files at a later date because it maintains an incremental backup of the entire precious information. It was developed by Apple Inc and released with version 10.5 Mac OS X. This software can run better either with the time capsule or with some other external hard drives.
While retrieving files, time machine’s user interface uses the Apple’s core animation API. Behind the active or current window, there are stacked windows that represents a snapshot of what was the state of any particular folder at a specified time and date in the past.
A file that will live only 23 hours will be erased by Time Machine at the next day. And a file that will not live one week will be cleared next month. Only files that remain stable for more than a week will remain until the saturation of the partition. The back up of files are generated after every hour (adjustable parameter) automatically. Once the software is configured, it continues to work properly even without the need of specified timings to run it. If it performs the backup synchronization when the drive is not connected to the computer, it waits for the next connection from the backup disk to the computer.
To qualify for a mobility with a laptop and not systematically connected to an external hard drive, synchronization can be achieved by including Wi-Fi using a Time Capsule which is an external hard drive that Apple may be connected to a computer via Wi-Fi (this allows a regular automatic synchronization while providing the user mobility in the area of wireless Time Capsule).
By default, Time Machine does the backup to a local drive, external drive (USB or Firewire) or a Time Capsule. However it is possible to backup to a network drive (i.e. NAS) or any other type of disk.
Finally, it is obvious that using time machine is very helpful in retrieving the data by its backup system. If you are unable to restore the data even by using this software utility, then you must take a wise consultancy from the hardware specialists. He will guide you further to recover your precious information in a proper way.
